The storyline for Dragon Ball Z stims at first from Goku's true origins in outerspace. His ancestrial heratige as a Saiyan from Planet Vegeta comes to haunt him as his older brother Raditz decides to stop by earth for a visit. Goku learns that his real name is Kakarott and that he was sent to earth for the sole purpose of destroying it only days after his birth. Eventually Goku is forced to fight with Raditz along side Piccolo and gives his life to save Earth from his brothers evil ways. However, before Raditz dies he tells Goku that two more Saiyans, Vegeta and Nappa, are already on there way to destroy earth and that they would arrive in only one year. After hearing this the Z-Team goes into training to make themselves stronger and Goku even seeks special training in the after life. This opens up the Saiyan Saga and also the entire 291 episodes of the series.
Throughout the series we follow Goku, Gohan, and the rest of the Z-Team through a number of intense sagas where they meet up with some very evil villans. At times it seems they have no chance of winning even after years of hard training. The storyline and action always manage to keep you clinging to your seats and the cliff hangers make sure your there for the next episode. Dragon Ball Z is also very unique in the fact that through the series the characters all grow in many ways from age to personality and strength. This allows you to really become attached to the characters and for some its really hard to pick a favorite character because you like them all!
